Light Eco Plus

What types of lighting system’s can use the Light Eco Plus?
Any florescent system with magnetic ballast or HID (High Intensity Discharge) system.

How many tubes can be controlled by the Light Eco Plus?
It varies but a 20 amp unit can control up to 80 36W tubes.

What savings are realised?
Around 30% - on some installations even higher, click here to use our energy saving calculator.

What ROI can I expect?
Depends on how long the lights are on typically 18-24 months.

What happens if more lights are turned on?
The Light Eco Plus continuously monitors the lighting circuit and when more lights are turned on
the Light Eco Plus will supply full volts for the set warm up time. The Light Eco Plus can
detect minimum load change of 1A.

What happens when lighting maintenance is needed?
The Light Eco Plus incorporates a bypass switch to allow manual bypass of the economy mode
for a set time (60 Minutes). When the time is up the unit goes into warm up mode to allow the new
lamps to start correctly, after this time has elapsed the unit re-enters energy saving mode.

Can the Light Eco Plus work with BMS systems, timers, daylight sensors
and daylight harvesting?
Yes the Light Eco Plus can work with all these controls.

What information does the LCD show?
The Percentage Saving being made in real time
The Voltage
The Current
The Power

Does the Light Eco Plus produce any harmonics?
No harmonics are produced

What happens in the unlikely event that the Light Eco Plus fails?
The unit will automatically enter bypass mode and the LCD would indicate the failure.

How does the Light Eco Plus work with emergency lighting?
Emergency lighting battery charging is unaffected. Please see the Installation Guide for more information.

Does the LightECO meet all UK and European standards?
Yes

Is the LightECO easily installed?
Yes. Typically within 30 minutes.

Warranty?
3 year return to base

AC Electric Motors

When can Fairford Soft Starters save energy?
Any application that doesn’t run fully loaded for the entire time.
If the load is less than 50% for a period of time than a saving of up to 18% can
been seen, although this depends on a number of factors.

What factors influence the amount of energy saving?
The amount of time the motor is at part load per day.
The percentage load when at part load - 30% and below give the best savings.
Motor size – the larger the motor the greater the saving.
Motor efficiency – Low efficiency motors give the best savings.
Motor condition – Worn or rewound motors will

When can’t Soft Starters save energy?
If the process continuously runs at full load. However, motors are often oversized,
and it still may be possible to save energy.

What information do I need to estimate the energy savings?
The Fairford energy saving calculator will give you an accurate estimate
of the savings and ROI. The required information is:
The hours per day the motor is running.
The days per year the motor is running.
The hours per day that the motor is at part load.
The percentage load when running at part load.
The motor size (kW).
The motor efficiency (high/medium/low, most motors are medium)
Your electricity cost (kW/h)
The installation costs.

Will the soft starters work with Single Phase and Three phase motors?.
Yes the HFE will work with Single Phase motors up to 30A, and the XFE will
work with Three Phase motors up to 1000A.

What other benefits to soft starters offer?
When electric motors start they create excessive torque (turning forces) and draw
large currents. These forces and currents can higher than 8x the normal running
values for the motor. A soft starter will reduce the starting current and the torque
generated, so will reduce strain, wear and damages to belts, gears, machinery
and the motor itself.
