Fairford Energy & Energy Saving Solutions save McDonald's Restaurants Ltd 6000MT CO2 
The client, McDonald’s Restaurants Ltd, is continuously seeking to reduce its CO2 emissions across its UK restaurants. Tasked with delivering a core aspect of the solution ESS specified the Light Eco, a voltage reduction unit, which has now been deployed in over 1000 restaurants. This solution is projected to save McDonald’s over 6000 tonnes CO2 in its first year alone following installation. 
 
Proven motor control technology saves a large supermarket an average of 30% on their refrigeration 
Fairford Energy and Energy Saving Solutions (ESS) have combined to deliver another energy reduction solution to a large supermarket. 
 
Carbon Trust Interest Free Loan 
The Carbon Trust is giving businesses with less than £500,000 electricity spend per year the chance to apply for a loan of between £3,000 and £400,000 interest free for energy saving equipment.  
 
Energy Grant 500 
Through Business Link, the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) is offering Energy Grant 500 to help small businesses. The project is designed to raise awareness of energy usage in the business. It provides a grant of up to £500 to implement changes that will result in reduced energy costs and a smaller carbon footprint. 
 
The Energy Grant 500 is available to any business based in premises, either rented or owned, with a current energy spend of between £1,500 and £30,000pa.

SALIX Finance 
Salix is an independent, publicly funded company set up to accelerate public sector investment in energy efficiency technologies through invest to save schemes. 
 
Salix has public funding from the Carbon Trust and is working across the public sector with Local Authorities, NHS Foundation Trusts, Higher and Further Education Institutions and Central Government. 
 
We can enable Public Sector bodies to improve energy efficiency, attain targets, reduce energy bills and raise green credentials. We do this by using long term, ring fenced, interest free conditional grants to make carbon saving projects happen in the public sector. 
 
Our focus is on supporting basic projects. In general all projects pay for themselves within 50% of their useful life so real energy bill savings are seen in the organisation.
